娘は動物の本を読むのが好きで、昨日は塩屋賢一という人について書かれた、偕成社から出ているノンフィクションに取りかかっていた。塩屋賢一さんというのは、日本で初めて盲導犬を育成した人だそうだ。
今朝、「塩屋賢一さんって、まだいるの？」というからウィキペディアで調べたみたら、盲導犬の育成にあたり、新宿中村屋（アルタの近くのカレーのお店だ）の２代目がかかわっているらしく（アドバイスしたというか、資金提供をしたのだろうか）、塩屋さんは盲導犬にどんな指示を教えたらいいかを調べるため、１カ月目隠しをしてとのこと。驚いた。と同時に素晴らしく、真摯な姿勢だと思った。
１カ月目隠しか。丸１日でもなかなかできないことではないだろうか。挑戦してみたい気もするが。
