娘が通う小学校の土曜参観。授業を見学するのも興味深いが、合間にNHKのアナウンサーをされている方や講談社のマンガ雑誌の編集の方、大手アパレルブランドの生産管理をされている方をはじめ、さまざまな方と少しずつおしゃべりができたのもよかった。
４時限目の国語を終え、モスバーガーでお昼を買って帰宅。急いでランチを済ませ、芦花公園にある世田谷文学館へ。三遊亭圓橘（えんきつ）師匠による、落語のワークショップ「落語に挑戦！」に参加。お弟子さんの前座・三遊亭橘也（きつや）さんよる「寿限無」に笑わせていただいた。子どもたちもくすくす笑っていた。親と離れ、最前列に座っていたうちの娘も何度が笑い声を上げていたようだった。
上下（かみしも）の方向の話になるほどと思った。客席のほうから舞台を見ると、右が上手、左が下手。つまり、右が偉いわけだから、庶民が和尚さんなど自分よりも身分の高い人と話すときは、落語家は左を向いてしゃべるという。首の向きで、人間関係がある程度わかるから、舞台の「上下」を覚えておくと、落語が見やすくなり、お客さんも頭の中で話を整理しやすくなるそうだ。この「上下」は、日本の芸能すべてに共通のルールだという。日本では、最近の若い人の芝居でもおそらく、上手・下手という言葉は使われていると思う。とはいっても、現代演劇の場合、立場の偉い人は、必ず観客から見て右手（上手）から登場すると、そこまでは決まっていないと思うけど。 また、圓橘師匠は「寿限無」には、お父さん、お母さん、和尚さん、おばさんなど何人もの人が出てくるけど、長い名前を付けられた「じゅげむ」本人は一度も出てこない、これが落語なんです、ともおっしゃっていた。
座布団の上に座る方法（順序）、お辞儀の仕方、扇子を使っておそばを食べる（ように見せる）方法などを軽く教えてくださった。おそばのスープの飲み方について、「こんなこと、どこでも教えてないんですよ。ほんとは企業秘密なんですけどね」と苦笑いなのか、ちょっと困ったように笑う圓橘師匠のお顔が印象深い。１時間半のワークショップだったが、物理的な時間以上に中身が濃く、貴重な体験ができた。
